Avoid ‘caregiver’ discrimination
Lexington, Ky. - Most employers are aware that federal and state law prohibit discrimination in employment, by employers with at least 15 employees, against “qualified individuals with disabilities.” Many employers may not be aware that the federal law, the Americans with Disabilities Act, also prohibits discrimination against employees and applicants who may have no disability at all, if the discrimination is because of a relationship with someone who is disabled.
