What is freedom you ask? Well, freedom by definition is the state of being free or at liberty rather than in confinement or under physical restraint. My personal definition of freedom is just being able to do things on your own, by yourself and not needing someone to tell you what you need to do constantly or have them doing it for you. When you are free you are able to do everything and anything with nothing or no one to hold you back. People with disabilities have a hard time reaching freedom because people without disabilities hinder them. From their point of view, they think that helping people with disabilities, and doing things for them is always a good thing, but in reality they are not. I can see why but their actually preventing someone from their freedom to accomplish something. However in today’s day and age, people with disabilities have more freedom then they did years ago because of the improvement of technology and advanced medication. Prosthetics have been made for people who have no legs or arms and wheelchairs for people who cannot walk. My brother and I both have ADHD and a lot of the times I’ll do things for my brother because I tend to get impatient. He usually takes a long time to do things but when I do it for him he will get mad at me. I now realize that when I do that I am not letting him be free. Disabled or not you should still be free, we as Americans have that right. It’s in our constitution as the first amendment states we have freedom of speech, religion, assembly, press and right to petition the government. Our country is based around freedom so every person deserves it.
