Transportation Service for the Disabled Necessary, but Costly
ANNAPOLIS (Nov. 18, 2008) — The Maryland Transit Administration’s Mobility/Paratransit service made 828,000 curb-to-curb trips for the disabled in fiscal year 2008, 100,000 more than the previous year.

People with disabilities encounter many hidden barriers
Let’s face it, because of weather-related delays, long security lines and crowded planes, traveling during the holidays is a hectic time. Offering designated security lanes for families is an improvement. As a person who has baby-sat, I know that a stroller or a car seat are necessary objects to have for babies and for young children; when accompanying children on a trip, there is no such thing as traveling light.

One of Formula One’s most successful team owners Sir Frank Williams CBE, has fully endorsed the free Karting for the Disabled seminar which will take place at the very first enABLE show at Coventry’s Ricoh Arena on 28&29 November 2008. “I fully support this initiative which is opening a new route for disabled participants to become involved in competitive motor sport,” said Sir Frank. “With the oxygen of publicity provided by British success in Formula One, it is a great time to be encouraging everyone, regardless of ability or capability, to enjoy full engagement in motor sport.”
